SFF Presents Charlie Parr with Marisa Anderson

March 12 @ 7:00 pm

Sisters Folk Festival (SFF) presents a special concert with Charlie Parr on Sunday, March 12. The concert will be held at The Belfry at 302 E Main Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m and the show will open with Marisa Anderson at 7 p.m followed by Charlie Parr at 7:45 p.m. This is a general admission, all ages show. Beverages will be available for purchase, no outside food or beverages permitted in the venue.

Charlie Parr is an incorruptible outsider who writes novelistic, multi-layered stories that shine a kaleidoscopic light on defiant, unseen characters thriving in the shadows all around us. Parr has a new record with only his name on it, and it isn’t shiny and perfect and commercial and catchy. It’s him. It’s pure Charlie Parr and that’s enough. He hasn’t moved to LA or Nashville; he’s stayed in the cold grey north of Minnesota, because that’s his home.

Marisa Anderson channels the history of the guitar and stretches the boundaries of tradition. Her deeply original work applies elements of minimalism, electronic music, drone and 20th century classical music to compositions based on blues, jazz, gospel and country music, re-imagining the landscape of American music. The New Yorker calls Anderson “one of the most distinctive guitar players of her generation,” while NPR refers to her as among “this era’s most powerful players.” https://www.marisaandersonmusic.com
